About Have I Enough?

Who we are
Have I Enough? is built and maintained by Codingbadger Creative Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16896863). It was founded by Barry Mooring, a software engineer who wanted a clear, honest answer to “can I afford to retire?” and found most calculators either too simple to trust or built to sell a product. The answer to that is transparency: the full methodology, its sources and its limitations are published on How it works, and every figure in the planner can be traced to the maths behind it. Barry builds and maintains the planner and reads every correction sent in.
Why it exists
Most people approaching retirement in the UK have a mix of workplace pensions, personal pensions, ISAs, savings and the State Pension — and no easy way to see how they fit together year by year. Have I Enough? lets you enter your own figures and see a full cashflow projection: when each pot is drawn, how tax applies, and whether the money lasts. Everything runs in your browser, and there is no sign-up.
How we keep it accurate
- UK rules, per tax year. Income-tax bands (including Scotland), the personal allowance taper, the 25% tax-free lump sum and State Pension age are modelled as legislated, and updated each tax year.
- Published, independent sources. Spending benchmarks use the Pensions UK Retirement Living Standards; the historical stress test replays real market history from the JST Macrohistory Database; growth assumptions sit within the FCA's projection rates.
- Tested calculations. The projection engine is covered by an automated test suite that checks tax, pension and withdrawal results against worked figures before any change goes live.
- Nothing hidden. Every assumption is visible and editable, and the full model is documented in How the planner works.
Independence
We don't recommend, name or sell pension or investment products, and the figures you see are not shaped by any provider. The consumer planner is free. We earn money by licensing a branded version of the planner to financial businesses — see For business.
What it isn't
Have I Enough? is software that models your finances; it is not regulated financial advice, and its projections are estimates, not guarantees. For a decision that matters, speak to a regulated financial adviser — the free, impartial MoneyHelper service from the UK government is a good place to start.
